Dr. Rabiu Ahmed Rufai

Public Health Physician, Former Dean of the School of Public Health, Federal University Duste, Jigawa, Member

Dr Rabiu Ahmed Rufai is a Public Health expert and medical practitioner. He obtained his medical degree at Bayero University Kano, and he also has an MSc in Public Health from Leeds University in the United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP) and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH).

Dr. Rufai is a member of several professional associations which include; the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), and the Mediterranean Health Managers Association (MHMA). He is an accomplished professional and academic.

He has served in various capacities for nearly two decades, notably, as the pioneer Dean of the School of Public Health at Federal University Dutse and Head of Department of Public Health at Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State. He also served as a Visiting Scholar to a number of tertiary institutions. His areas of expertise include Communicable Disease Prevention & Control, Health Systems Development for Primary Health Care, Health Management, Policy and Planning, Health Economics Monitoring & Evaluation of Health Programs, Medical Statistics and Epidemiology.

Dr Rufai is well-travelled and well read. He embodies that rare combination of first world knowledge and indigenous passion. He has given his entire life and career to serving Nigeria’s least privileged at the grassroots level.
